It was on january 26th,1950 that the constitution of India came into force and India became a sovereign,Democratic and Republic country. On this day, India with full spirit welcomed the constitutional law and principle of Governance. India’s pluralism and her social, cultural, linguistic and the religious diversity forms the greatest strength of the nation.
Our tradition has always celebrated the ‘argumentative’ Indian; not the ‘intolerant’ Indian. Multiple views, thoughts and philosophies have competed with each other peacefully for centuries in our country and today we take great pride in celebrating the 68th Republic Day.
“Let new India arise out of peasants cottage, grasping the plough, out of huts, cobbler and sweeper.” – Swami Vivekananda
“I feel that the constitution is workable, it is flexible and it is strong enough to hold the country together both in peacetime and in wartime. Indeed, if I may say so, if things go wrong under the new Constitution, the reason will not be that we had a bad Constitution. What we will have to say is that Man was vile.” – B. R. Ambedkar
“The first requisite of a good citizen in this republic of ours is that he shall be able and willing to pull his own weight.” – Theodore Rooseve
